About Melissa Polk
I am a 38 year old woman from Mt. Lebanon, PA - a municipality six miles southwest of the city of Pittsburgh. I was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon with my parents and my three sisters. I attended Mt. Lebanon High School and then the University of Dayton where I received my bachelor's degree in biology.
I was married in September of 2001 to my husband Joe. He works for the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PENNTAP) as a Senior Technical Consultant providing free, limited technical assistance (computer or Internet-related) to small businesses within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
I am currently working on a contractual basis for an environmental firm located in Pittsburgh. My services include Statistical Data Evaluations, Chemical Toxicity Profiles Review, Human Health Risk Assessments, Exposure Modeling, Permit Application, and RCRA Environmental Indicator Evaluation. My goal is to provide these services to several firms in the region. I have experience in working for private industry, and state/federal agencies.
